Director Profile

Zhang Yuan

Zhang Yuan was born in 1963 in Nanjing, China. He is a director and producer, known for Little Red Flowers (2006), Seventeen Years (1999) and East Palace, West Palace (1996). First emerging onto the film scene as a documentary filmmaker, he is seen as one of the pioneering members of China’s Sixth Generation of filmmakers.
